Open Access online research links

This is a collection of free, almost-free and sometimes-free websites that publish peer-reviewed articles and studies that relate to education, learning, web technology and the online world.

Many of these links were found in posts from Online Learning Update, which also exists here.  Some links were found via the Directory of Open Access Journals.  This list will be updated when additional resources are found, and readers are encouraged to add suggestions in the comments.

Free:

Contemporary Issues in Technology and Teacher Education ( CITE )

The International Review of Research in Open and Distance Learning ( IRRODL )

Journal of Educational Technology & Society ( JET&S )

Journal of Information Technology Education ( JITE )

Journal of Interactive Online Learning ( JIOL )

Journal of Online Learning and Teaching ( JOLT )

The Online Journal of Distance Learning Administration ( OJDLA )

Almost Free:

Innovate ( Innovate )

“an open-access, peer-reviewed, online periodical” that “focuses on the creative use of information technology to enhance education and training in academic, commercial, and governmental settings.” “Subscriptions to Innovate are free, but we do ask subscribers to provide demographic information.”

International Journal of Emerging Technologies in Learning ( iJET )

“This journal provides open access to all of it content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.” (Open Access Policy)

Registration sometimes required. “This registration will result in the reader receiving the Table of Contents by email for each new issue of the journal. This list also allows the journal to claim a certain level of support or readership.” (Information For Readers)

Education and Information Technology Library  ( Ed/ITLib )

Education Research Information Center  ( ERIC )

“ERIC appreciates the individuals and publishers who have given ERIC permission to display the full text at no charge. For most materials from 2004 forward, if full text is not available in ERIC, links to the publishers’ Web sites and to libraries that may have the full text are provided.” (About)
